Welcome to Dental Implants!

Lose a tooth?  Suffering from loose dentures?

Dental implants offer many people the ability to once again have functional, attractive dentition.  For denture wearers, dental implants can work as fastening devices.  The old time rock and roll dentures can be history.

Dr. Hettinger offers affordable dental implants in the Orlando and Central Florida region without sacrificing excellent quality.

What is a dental implant?

Let's start with a few basics.

Every tooth in your mouth has two primary parts, one visible and one hidden (but very important).

The visible part is the crown, the white enamel-covered block which you commonly call your tooth.

But an equally important part of a tooth is its "root", the portion of the tooth under the surface of your gums, which supports and connects the tooth into the bone within your jaw.

A dental implant replaces the root with an artificial device, usually made of titanium. Dental implants became possible with the discovery in the 1950's that a titanium screw, inserted into bone became fused to that bone.  This fusion-induced stability (ankylosis) allows a tooth's crown (the visible part) to later be placed on the dental implant, looking and functioning almost identically to a natural tooth.  (If you'd like a more technical definition of dental implant, check out Wikipedia's definition.)

How much do dental implants cost?

We created this handy chart below to help you. Dr. Hettinger offers one of the most competitive, affordable implant services not just in Florida but in the U.S. Compared to nationally established rates, we can save you over $1294 per tooth while restoring your beautful smile.

Are you aware of all three parts you must purchase?

The three components of a "dental implant": titanium implant, abutment and crown.

The three parts of a dental implant are the metal implant itself, the abutment and the placed crown. No patient wants an implant alone.  An implant is a gray, metal, dental device ("screw") which is placed into the bone beneath the gums.  What you want is an attractive, functional prosthetic tooth to replace the one you have lost.  To get the tooth (crown) you must also have an implant and a connecting device called an abutmentWhen you are researching your options, be sure that you have planned for all three components, plus surgical analgesia and preliminary diagnostic services such as exams, x-rays, models, consultations, etc. Only then can you make a valid comparison.

Why are dental implants recommended replacements for missing teeth?

A dental implant with an abutment and crown placed on it can look and feel just like your own natural tooth. With good patient maintenance, implants can last a lifetime.

Long-term studies continue to show improving success rates for implants, with an overall 95% success rate. This enjoyable infographic summarizes in a glance some of the facts and benefits of dental implants.
